Elisabetta is an ephemeral, reversible shawl worked at a gauzy gauge in a geometric knit-purl damask pattern. It is created from a single skein of beautiful Shimmering Tussah. The silk tussah yarn is a 2-ply with a subtle tooth which helps the fabric meld like a wool, while feeling more like a cotton. This yarn is one we rarely offer as it is hard for us to get. And we have a very limited number of skeins at this time.
The light indigo blue color, Dewdrop, was designed especially for Cecelia and her stunning design. When Elisabetta moves with the light and breeze, the surface resembles the cool, calm flow of water. Each skein of yarn is hand-dipped into our indigo vat at our Oakland studio. Cecelia paired a light, whisper pink, named First Petal, strand of cotton embroidery floss, for a touch of weight and color at each end of the shawl. This addition allows the shawl to have gorgeous drape while keeping the lace-like fabric open. The main body of the shawl is knit using a single strand creating an absolutely stunning fabric.
NEW! Summer 2024 -- As we approach the warmer months, we wanted to expand the color options for Elisabetta. It was so fun to pick the corresponding floss to go with each new color. In addition to Dewdrop, choose from classic Red Pear, light filled Starlight, deep moody Mollusk, and color defying Topological.
The knits and purls catch the light differently, creating the damask effect when viewed at glancing angle, but if the shawl is viewed single-thickness or with any backlight, it is transparent. Elisabetta is perfect for anyone dressing up or down and in cool or warm weather.
