Cecelia Campochiaro has designed another simple and addictive scarf pattern for our custom 2025 Bay Area Yarn Crawl color, Ripple Effect!
The Scultura Scarf is a highly textured and reversible scarf worked in a slip stitch pattern with an I-Cord edging. Scultura means sculpture in Italian and the pattern resembles a geometric bas relief texture. It has a few delicate one-row marl stripes at each end in a contrasting color that add some subtle visual interest.
Scultura is worked in Floating yarn from A Verb for Keeping Warm in Oakland, California. There are two sizes, small and large.
The smaller size is shown above and it uses one skeins of Floating plus a mini-skein for the contrasting color. The larger size requires two skeins of Floating. Either size kit includes a mini-skein for the marl stripes. Floating is a soft and shiny yarn in a silk, alpaca, and cashmere blend. It has amazing drape, which balances the heft added by the slip-stitches.
Scultura is worked with a provisional cast on, an I-Cord selvedge, and an I-Cord bind off. The provisional cast on is then re-moved and another I-Cord bind off is worked at the starting edge. This gives a finished I-Cord edge all around the scarf.
