BUAISOU has a new book available and it is absolutely gorgeous.
This is an exhibition guide to “Indigo Dyeing Anatomy Exhibition: The work of BUAISOU.” The show was held from December 27, 2021, to February 21, 2022, at the Design Gallery 1953, 7th floor, Matsuya Ginza, Tokyo.
This volume highlights a single indigo-dyed poster and how it was designed and made, illustrating the artistry, intention, and skill that goes into each piece made at BUAISOU. Read about the seeds they use to grow indigo to how they carve stencils and use rice paste to create patterns.
The cover is made of Japanese washi paper mixed with odds and ends indigo-dyed fabric from the production process at the BUAISOU studio. The book includes writing in Japanese and English. Graphic designer Taku Satoh was in charge of art direction, and Akino Tagami of TSDO was in charge of graphic design.
An absolute must-have for true indigo aficionados.
